Streaming Apple TV+ will be free this weekend

Apple is giving anyone the opportunity to access its Apple TV+ streaming service for free this weekend, from January 3 to January 5.

The announcement was made on Monday alongside a brief video featuring some of its most popular shows, including “Severance,” “Slow Horses,” “Shrinking,” and others.

This is the first time Apple has ever offered such a free access weekend, signaling an effort to attract more viewers and potentially boost its subscriber base.

The timing of the announcement comes shortly after Apple TV+ began teasing that they were considering making some of their content available to non-subscribers.

With a full weekend to explore, viewers can catch up on highly anticipated shows like “Severance,” which returns for its second season on January 17.

Apple likely hopes that by offering this free access, viewers will get hooked on their content and eventually opt for a subscription to continue enjoying their full library of original TV series and films.

In a press release, Apple confirmed that the free access will be available on any device where Apple TV+ is accessible. All that is needed to access the service is an Apple ID.

Currently, Apple TV+ is priced at $9.99 per month, with Family Sharing options allowing up to six members to use a single subscription.

This approach could attract new subscribers who want to explore Apple’s growing catalog of content, ranging from critically acclaimed series to exclusive movies.
