iOS 18.2's 8 New Texting Features Will Make Your iPhone Texts Pop!

The Messages app has become more fun and useful with the latest iOS update, bringing new features to enhance communication.

Texting is no longer just about words. Now, you can emphasize your message with options like bold, italics, and even exploding text effects.

Along with these text formatting improvements, new features include animated effects, better image quality with RCS support, and the ability to schedule texts for later delivery, preventing late-night disturbances.

One standout feature is satellite messaging, which lets you send texts when you're out of cellular range, provided you have an iPhone 14 or later.

Additionally, you can now format text in various styles, such as bold, italic, underline, and strikethrough, giving your messages more personality.

Messages also offers animations like "Big," "Shake," or "Jitter" to make your texts stand out. If you prefer, you can turn off automatic animations in settings.

Tapback icons now support not just the usual six but any emoji or sticker, giving you more ways to react quickly.

For those using an iPhone 15 Pro or later, the Genmoji feature allows you to create personalized emojis on the spot by simply describing them, turning your messages into even more unique expressions.

Another practical update is the ability to schedule texts, which is helpful when you want to send a message at a specific time without waking anyone. Just type your message, select "Send Later," and set the desired time.
